Sweet-Scented Violet. "Gather them while ye may....” Napoleon's Josephine wore Violet perfume because of a unique quality that plays tricks on our noses. Components called Ionones can make it ‘disappear’ to the nose - then ‘reappear’ later. Josephine's was the first recorded case of using this lovely trick as a deliberate attempt to make herself appear more alluring.

The Violet family comprises over 200 species. The flowers are generally deep purple, giving their name to the colour that is associated with them. However, just to be confusing, lilac, pale rose-coloured or white variations of violets are also pretty common. Our Violet cologne pays homage to this revered flower. Delicate, enigmatic and mysterious, this scent does indeed disappear and reappear throughout the day, surprising you at times with its presence. In our opinion, violet is one of the most alluring florals for men to wear.

Did you know that The Library of Fragrance colognes can be layered to create scents that are unique to you? Mix and match any two, or more, to create combinations for every mood and occasion. Here are some suggestions to try with Violet:

Confused about the difference between cologne and perfume, parfum, eau de parfum, eau de toilette and/or aftershave? These different names simply refer to the concentration of fragrance oil within the bottle. All our fragrances are colognes, which means that they contain between 2-8% of fragrance oil. All of our products are unisex; we don’t believe that fragrance has a gender.
