While The Library of Fragrance scents are beautiful in their own right and when worn individually, they can also be worn together to build a customised and personalised fragrance. By mixing, matching and layering our scents on the skin, you can create a bespoke new scent – just for you.
You can mix, match and layer fragrances from any number of different brands, but scents from The Library of Fragrance have some special characteristics that make it much easier to get great results. Firstly, our scents are described as ‘single-note’ fragrances, which means that they express a single, identifiable smell or idea. These ‘single ideas’ – or notes and accords, as they are often referred to in the perfume industry – are also linear, which means that they express their nature and character immediately, and do not change over time. Notes and accords are the building blocks that master perfumers use to create complex prestige fragrances.
Complex fragrances are made up of numerous notes and accords, and their smell changes over time because different notes express themselves over different periods of time. The concept of top, middle and bottom notes , which you’re likely familiar with, is a shorthand method of explaining the order that the elements of a complex fragrance will express themselves in as they evaporate from your skin and clothes.
